Kristina Sachs
"Music and Ministry"
- Kristina Sachs is an accomplished concert vocalist,
musician and actress in both the Christian and secular worlds.
Her experience encompasses film, television, radio, theatre and stage
performances. Whether in the
grandeur of a 3,000 seat performing arts center - while singing with the San
Diego Opera and the Symphony Chorus, in a Gothic cathedral, or the more
intimate setting of a New York cabaret, a recording studio, or a contemporary
chapel - Kristina is at home lifting her voice in gratitude to the Lord.
-
- Having
traveled the globe for ten years as a guest artist in the international cruise
industry, coupled with national concerts and performances on both East and
West Coasts, Kristina has found her greatest joy in music ministry.
Opportunities to be part of worship and music teams during missions to
Russia, Israel and Korea have enriched this desire.
It was during a trip to Japan several years ago, while under contract
to sing in Tokyo, that Kristina felt called to share her talents in new ways.
During her visit she assisted the Yoksto Christian Church in Sapporo
with their English as a Second Language program and was invited to be a
featured soloist at the “Jesus Festival” conference, hosted by
pastor/author Reverend David Cho of Korea.
-
-
That moving experience led Kristina to follow her heart to First
Presbyterian Church in San Mateo, California.
As a Deacon, Worship Facilitator, Intercessor and former President of
the Choir, she responds to her church family with their various needs.
Designing services and retreats, as well as intimate devotional
gatherings has provided many gratifying opportun
ities
to serve others.
- As a featured soloist and member of the Chancel Choir
and Contemporary Worship Team, Kristina has sung in both classical and
contemporary works such as Handel’s “Messiah”, “Mighty Warrior”, “Elija”,
Hadyn’s “Missa Solemnis” and “A New Creation”, among others.
Kristina also shares her gift of song at weddings, memorials and other special
occasions throughout the community at large.
- Kristina has also been involved with regional
community programs such as the Mission Hospice, Homestart Association, and the
Peninsula Volunteers and participated in the Billy Graham Crusades held in
Northern California in the Fall of 1997, joining the
choir as well as assisting in their counseling ministry. She is on the
leadership team of the Knox Fellowship., a volunteer international
organization devoted to revitalizing the Church through Evangelism and
Discipleship. With the Knox Fellowship, she travels throughout the United
States as a soloist and facilitator visiting churches seeking renewal
- In the Spring of 1998, inspired by the Easter praise
piece, “The Day He Wore My Crown”, Kristina presented a concert weaving
stories and songs about her international journeys and how the Lord touches
the lives of others throughout the world. Her former one-woman concert,
“Make His Vision Glorious”, was a tribute to God’s power through music
as the international language of love and peace.
-
- As an active member of TaMPA Christian Fellowship, an
association of actors in the television and film industry, she enjoys working
on-camera as well as commercial voice-over.
During the summer of 1999, filming was completed on “A Life Worth
Living”, a movie made for TV, written in
tribute to
the Christian composer,
Johann Sebastian Bach. Kristina portrays his wife, Anna Magdellena.
The film will be featured at the N.Y. International Film & Video
Fest this Summer 2001.
-
- Most recently audiences were treated to Kristina Sachs
and Friends in an outreach benefit concert entitled, “For Such a Time as
This”, featuring contemporary Christian and secular songs from jazz, pop and
gospel to worship pieces, accompanied by 8 gifted musicians and an ensemble of
back-up singers. Heading to the
studio thereafter and a 2 year recording project, selections from this
uplifting concert have just been
released in her debut CD, “For Such A Time As This.”
